Raking Up All The Leaves

Am I the only one who has waited this long to rake up all of my leaves?? Well technically it was still November when we did it... November 27th but still, November. LOL. We have about a half acre of land full of huge towering old oak, birch, and other majestic trees. But when the leaves start coming down... they really come down. In my defense, the leaves did come down a little later then usual this year and if we don't wait until they are all off the trees and onto the ground then it is pretty much wasted time. I remember bring young and LOVING raking with my mom and dad. Jumping in the leaves, making scare crows, now it's a HUGE pain! When you have children to enjoy watching play in them does it make it a little less awful?

So last Sunday we finally took on the task, and boy what a task it was. The backyard still isn't finished. I wish I had more before photos to show you so you could see the difference. Rich was able to borrow his dad's Cycline Rake so we were able to suck all the leaves up into that. It shreds the leaves up and then when it's full you dump them out. It is supposed to be attached to the back of a ride on lawn mower... but we don't have one. Too bad it would have been SO much faster. Instead we had to rake all the leaves up into the sucker hose or use the hose like a huge vacuum. Took a lot more time but still faster than if we had to bag them or drag them into the back on a tarp. Plus they take up so much less room shredded and they will break down faster making beautiful leaf mold for my garden for next spring! :) The pile of leaves in the picture doesn't look like much but in person it's massive. So nice to finally have that done! When did everyone else get their raking done? Do you live in an area that has a lot of leaves to rake?

Free Shipping Sale & New Items

My free shipping sale is almost over! Make sure you take some time to stop by and check out the shop before it's over. It's going to keep going until Sunday night so there is still time and we have some new items too!

Our Dead Sea Bath Salts are now being offered in these adorable plastic tubes which allow all the essential oils and scent to stay stronger longer. I also just listed a set of 3 Dead Sea Bath Salts, perfect as a gift or just for you to try each one!

Another new item is the Lavender Whipped Body Butter. Super relaxing and I wouldn't be surprised my whipped body butters end up being the most moisturizing cream you've ever used! Just check out the feedback I got recently: "As someone who is addicted to body butter and has tried too many to name, I can honestly say it doesn't come better than this. Just as rich as it looks, easy to spread, incredibly moisturizing, and the scent is exactly as advertised. I can't think of any skin type that wouldn't adore this stuff."

Julie's Fudge Sampler Pack

Julie's Fudge - Mini SAMPLER Pack - 2 pieces each, 3 kinds - 1/2 Pound TotalI recieved my fudge from Jewel of the Lion back in October. A little while after telling you all about how wonderful it looked I ordered some for myself. I got the Julie's Fudge Mini Sampler pack so I could try out a few different kinds. Julie has so many different flavors and all are so different and look so tasty! I had such a hard time choosing. I ended up going with S'mores Pie with Graham Cracker Crust, Strawberry Cheesecake with Graham Cracker Crust, and Peanut Butter Cup. I'm salivating just thinking about it. They were amazing! I'm pretty picky about fudge. If it's too sweet I don't care for it but this stuff is amazing. I'm already thinking about my next order. Do yourself a favor and check out her shop.

Electricity!

So I wanted to just update everyone on why it was so long between my last post and the one before it. Also I was supposed to be at a craft fair on the 30th and I wasn't able to make it. It has been a little chaotic here recently. On the 29th at about 10pm we lost electricity due to the storm. We really didn't get that much snow but tons of trees and branches came down. At about 3pm I woke up to what sounded to me like ice cracking on our roof. Then suddenly I heard a loud bang. My fiance and I ran outside and it was exactly what I was afraid of. A tree had fallen on our house!

Luckily there ended up not being much damage and most importantly everyone was safe. While we were out there we could hear the cracking and falling of trees and branches coming from everywhere! It was surreal. After that we didn't have electricity for 3 days and it was an awful adventure trying to stay warm. We spent our savings on Duraflame Logs and managed to keep ourselves and our 2 little chihuahua's warm until the lights came back on. So that is my little story. I also want to say thank you to everyone who sent warm wishes our way. I appreciate your support so much!

Fall Spirit with Pumpkin Spice

I have always loved the fall. The crisp smell in the air, the beautiful ambers and yellows in the trees, drinking apple cider and picking pumpkins. There are so many wonderfully fun things to do and so many fabulously beautiful sights to see. That being said I have to admit the past couple years since becoming a big garden enthusiast I haven't had quite the same love of fall that I used to. Something about knowing winter is right around the corner and soon all of my beautiful perennials and delicious veggies that I worked so hard on will wither and die. But this year I have embraced the fall again and everything I love about it. I even grew pumpkins!

So in honor of this autumn season I a few weeks ago I made my Pumpkin Spice Soap with real pumpkin filling. Now I have also started making soy candles. I recently made another beautifully scented Pumpkin Spice Soy Tea Light Candles. I am really excited about making a bunch of fall and then winter & holiday inspired scented items! When I smell my pumpkin spice items I'm baking with my grandmother again on a rainy fall day. I want people to smell them and let it bring them to that time.

I'd love to know what scents are your favorites that remind you of the holidays or a special time in your life? Maybe I'll use it in my next project!

New Blog, New Item!

I had been going back and forth between blogging and not blogging and finally decided to give it a go! I also have another announcement I am going to be making perfumes now too.

I just listed my first perfume roll on:

It is a sweet, nostalgic, relaxing blend of jasmine, orange, and sandalwood essential oils.

Here is a breakdown on the essential oils in this perfume:

Jasmine Essential Oil is uplifting and stimulating. Helping with times of hopelessness and nervous exhaustion and to reduce anxiety. It is great for dry skin AND oily skin! It can also help with eczema especially when caused by stress.

Orange Essential Oil had a sweet citrusy scent. It is used to aid in colds, constipation, dull skin, flatulence, the flu, gingivitis, slow digestion, water retention, and stress. It also encourages positive outlook.

Sandalwood Essential Oil is a rich, sweet, woody & floral scent. Sandalwood Oil is used for dry skin, laryngitis, bronchitis, oily skin, scars, sensitive skin, stress, chapped skin, and even stretch marks. In aromatherapy it is also used to help with nervous disorders, depression and anxiety.

Make sure your skin is be clean and dry when using these perfumes, so the scent doesn't mix with other odors. Pulse points such as the neck, sternum, elbow, inside of the knee or wrist are the best places to apply perfume. The increased body temperature at these pulse points improves a scent's development and longevity.
